Hearing peoples testimonies and reading people’s stories about what Jesus has done for them allows us to reflect and focus on what Jesus has done for us! It humbles us and should lead us to immense gratitude!
I was invited to Mom’s in Prayer about ten years ago when I was in a small group in the Fellowship Hall. A sort of a perfect stranger came up to me and invited me to their Silverado High School groups, and I have been in it ever since. I have two children; they are 26 and 21 years old. They were going to the same school, and we have been praying over them for the last ten years. I was very nervous at first going into this, thinking, I don’t know really how to pray, I am not really sure what words to use. And then I was just reminded in the Bible when Jesus said, you don’t need many words to pray, you just need to be praying from the heart. You are there for literally and hour, you sit, you introduce yourselves, you say hello with a little chit shat, but not much and you get right into prayer. So, our prayer group is from 6 to 7 at night, it’s one time a week and it has blessed my family and my children beyond measure. I feel like these groups need to be added more and more to more schools across the city, the nation, and the world. So, I would suggest, if you feel compelled to pray for your
children, to pray out loud, and that you know it would be a safe space to be in, pray about being in or starting a Mom’s in Prayer group. I feel like our children are having a harder and harder time in this world we are in. I mean, if we are they are. And what we can do for them as parents is cover them in
prayer, we can be there to guide them, we can be there to give them advice and love. But ultimately, they are in God’s hands. They were a gift to us, and we need to gift them with the gift of prayer.

Mom’s in Prayer originally started for me with an invitation from Ginny Jordano. I definitely feel like it was a prompting from the Lord for her to invite me because it was totally random. While I got involved, it was after a season of the Lord having me do nothing, as far as being involved in groups or anything like that. So, I was really excited when I felt that he was leading me to do this and I go as often as possible. It’s a huge part of my week. It’s one of the greatest things I think I do for my children, praying for them weekly and just setting aside that time and being with other moms and learning how they pray from their children helps me know how to say better prayers for my two
boys. I have two sons, and being a mom of adult children is almost as hard as being a mom of little kids. Maybe even a little harder at times because you have zero control anymore. And at this point, all you do is lay them before the Lord and trust and know that he has a plan and a purpose for them and their life, and he will take care of them better that you can. He loves them more than you can. So the greatest thing I can do as a mom for my kids is pray for them regularly. That dedicated time is so precious to me, and I leave there feeling at such peace because I know I have done something really good for my kids that week.
